Before our weekly Sunday Session began, I was able to have a bit of quiet time while looking out at the Moana, she was calm and serene this morning. My Great Aunt and family in Aotearoa were on my heart, and when the only thing you can do is pray, that is what you do.
Prayer for me has changed over the years, from rote learning for white sunday services, to mumbling something bilingual during family devotions, prayer then becoming more transactional too, eg if You do this for me, I will ‘promise’ etc’ whatta🤦🏾♀️. I am so thankful that over the years, it now feels like a conversation, an open dialogue, with the acknowledgement of Atua omnipresence and unconditional love
I am reminded of my Grandparents & Great Aunty who would pray fervently for us; my Parents whose prayers carried my siblings and I through the good and not so good times that life threw at us. Prayer has been a lifeline for me on more than one occasion.
We are living in a time where war is imminent in the north, climate change continues to impact our island nations and the globe, and mother earth has made herself known in Queensland, Northern NSW and in the Kingdom of Tonga.
Prayer with action combined will bring about meaningful and divine change. If you’ve ever said to someone “I’ll keep you in prayer” please do so. The follow through is even more important, prayers can help to move heaven and earth to get ish done, no matter how short or long it is, there is power in it.
If you’re not one to pray, then that’s alright too, no judgement here! Journaling is another great outlet, whether on paper or virtually. Additionally, taking audio notes to playback when time allows, just find what works for you, then go from there!
You’ve got this🙏🏾
